David's Letter

A Letter From David

About his PNN Internship
As featured on DavidAlbert.PNN.Com

Dear Jennifer,

During my time as an intern I have learned a lot about how dot coms are on the inside as well as news-ish organizations. I feel that much of what I have learned, particularly on the news side, is due to your assignments that you would give us. I have learned, for example, that interviewing people is harder than I thought. When Julio and I were wandering around the first week we asked something like 15 or 20 people if we could interview them and got maybe 3 who said yes.

Even hanging around the... room... has even taught me about the inner workings of dot coms. Richard always seemed to be working on some sort of problem that he needs to fix, so it occurs to me that tech people are much more important than I thought (I thought that it would be 'make this' and then just fix the occasional bug that people report).

Two of the biggest ways that I have grown because of my experiences at PNN would be my writing skills, since whenever I had nothing to do I would write another story, and my interviewing (etc) skills, since we did so many interviews. Because of those two things I am now much better at just starting to say something, whether that something is written or spoken, and that will greatly help me as I go off to college in the fall as well as afterwards.

Sincerely,
David Albert

PNN's Interns

2007
I recently attended the Marin School of Art and Technology's "Mentor Thank You" Dinner.

Over the past few months, PNN has had three high school seniors from MSAT, serving as interns, and over those months, I have watched the students gain an understanding of media creation a working knowledge of news gathering.

Julio, our Senior Intern focused on interviewing people

David, our Second Intern focused on extensive blogging about games, and also, Flash Animation

Eric, our Third Intern focused on photography
